Building A Tank - Chrysler Tank Arsenal Detroit
The building of American M-3 and M-4 tanks at the Chrysler operated Detroit Tank Arsenal plant during WWII. Tanks being tested on test track. Interior scenes of plant, tank assembly line, mass production of tanks.
Scenes of all types of machine tools. Ring gear being machined, wheel suspension units are milled, wheels ground, gun mount gears cut, armor plate put through a punch press and drill, sprocket gears cut by an arc torch, gears heat treated and immersed in oil baths, armor plate hydraulically riveted, the tanks assembled, armament installed, and the tanks lifted from the assembly line by cranes and loaded on railroad flat cars for shipment to Fort Knox Kentucky. Tank crews are trained and tank guns fired at Fort Knox.
