The Story Of Cpl. Alfred Jolley
Shows American troop ship arriving in San Francisco after WWII. On-board is Cpl. Jolley and here is his story on returning home after three years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Flashback to Japanese capture of Saipan and Corregidor. Cpl. loses left arm in battle. Shows surrender of General Jonathan Wainwright, American flag taken down and Japanese flag raised. Japanese propaganda footage of American prisoners being well treated. Shows Japanese military victory parade.
Shows American and Filipino prisoners of war as they began the Bataan Death March at Mariveles. POW camp at Cabanatuan. General Douglas MacArthur in a historical WWII scene of him wading ashore in the Philippines and fulfilling his promise "I shall return". U.S Troops and Philippine guerrillas rescue POWs, shows them on transport ship receiving letters and being greeted by family and friends in San Francisco. Shows Cpl. Jolly walking down Market Street, looking at his old high school, and at home with his mother and father with short clip of American Flag once again flying over Corregidor.
