The True Story Of Lili Marlene
Scenes in Nazi Germany, soldiers of the British 8th Army in the desert of North Africa, and German troops on the Russian front and the effect a song had on these men in WWII.
English announcer, holding pipe, tells the story of Lili Marlene, a song adopted by the soldiers of the British 8th Army in North Africa and troops of the German military. Shows war souvenirs and a phonograph record brought home after the war by a British 8th Army soldier. Camera zooms in on Lili Marlene record. Flashback to 1923, man at home writes the lyrics, music written in 1938. Scenes of hands playing on piano keys playing a song. Loli Anderson (Swedish singer) practices the song in a nightclub in Berlin while a woman scrubs the floor.
