Capture Of Saipan: Invasion footage shot on Saipan as U.S. Marines attack remnants of a Japanese Garrison trapped on Marpi Point. Marines firing artillery, artillery firing from M3 Half Track, tank firing. Image of U.S. T4 tank moving at fast speed on Saipan. Two tanks move along roadway, Marines advance. Shows burning building. Column of soldiers from the U.S. 2nd Marine Division, 4th Marine Division, or 27th Infantry Division move along roadway. Shows wrecked Japanese sea plane base at Saipan Harbor. Shows bodies of dead Japanese soldiers and civilians killed in a Banzai charge against the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 105th U.S. Infantry.
