U.S. Military Might Turns To Japan After German Defeat
Secretary of State Stettinius, Anthony Eden, Molotov, Mackenzie King and others of the United Nations Executive Committee meet in San Francisco.
Boeing Aircraft plant in Seattle Washington as plant workers tow a B-29 Superfortress named "On To Tokyo" from the plant. Shows plant workers cheering with B-29 in BG.
Statue symbolizing the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima is unveiled in war bond drive. War blackouts are lifted. Lights on Broadway in New York City goes on and once again Broadway becomes the "Great White Way" as waving people cheer. The Dome of the United States Capital is lit (illuminated) at night signaling the unconditional surrender of Germany. The Stature of Liberty is illuminated (lighted).
Chinese Orphan Finds Home With U.S. Airmen
A 4-year old "Chinese war orphan" is found by Airmen of the 14th Air Force in China. "Little Flying Joe" is adopted by the American Airmen. "Little Flying Joe" becomes a model soldier.

Germany Signs Surrender To End War In Europe
General Bernard Montgomery accepts the surrender of German troops in Germany. German Admiral Hans-George von Friedeburg signs surrender document followed by General Keitel. German General Jodl surrenders to General W B Smith in France. General Eisenhower receives the historic surrender pen used to sign the surrender document.
