Pioneer Caver Floyd Collins Perishes In Cave Collapse
Scenes of the unsuccessful rescue attempt of pioneer cave explorer Floyd Collins trapped in Kentucky Mammoth Cave in 1925. Using a drawing of the cave on a blackboard, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist William Burke Miller explains how Floyd Collins was trapped and how Collin's body prevented rescuers from reaching the rock that pinned his left foot. William Burke Miller personally made six trips into the cave tunnel taking food to Collins and tools to try to free him.
