Scenes of New York City emphasizing a rushing inhuman pace of life, overcrowding, the lack of space and noise pollution for big city dwellers, in this case New York City in 1939. People eating food at sidewalk hot dog joint or food vendor stand, people eating at a fast food restaurant with waitresses shouting orders, food being prepared in a hurry, people eating fast, as scenes are rapidly repeated.
Scenes of business people and pedestrians. Street scenes in New York City. Pedestrians dodging automobiles jaywalking to cross street. Low aerial view of traffic congestion, close-up view of taxi meter running, traffic not moving, major traffic jam, man exits taxi cab to walk. Crowds of people moving forward in a rush, policeman directing traffic and pedestrians as signal arms change from stop to go. Congested street with people and vehicles changes to a deserted street scene with peace and quite, then back to scenes of automobiles or heavy traffic on a major street or highway, traffic jam as highway becomes a parking lot.
Scenes of automobile accident and wrecked vehicle. Family at fast food joint. A stuck vehicle horn adds to the turmoil as driver frantically tries to stop horn from blowing.
