NCAA Basketball at Louisville pits the Seattle Chiefs, sparked by Elgin Baylor’s great shooting, against the Kentucky Wildcats. After a great 1st half performance by Baylor, the Cats cut loose to win the collegiate hoop championship. 84-72.

Race Horse Tim Tam Wins Kentucky Derby

On the Turf, the wonder horse of the year, Silky Sullivan fizzled in the Kentucky Derby. Silky’s patented come-from-behind finish never materialized. It was racehorse Tim Tam overtaking Lincoln Road in the stretch for a sensational finish in the run for the roses.

13 Car Pile-Up At Indianapolis 500

One of the most exciting Indianapolis 500-mile races saw a chilling 13-car pile-up in the very first lap. Miraculously, all but one driver escaped death. It was a blazing pace throughout, with Jimmy Bryan winning at an average speed of nearly 134mph.
