Busy Days For President John F. Kennedy
It’s a busy few days in Washington for President Kennedy. First he greets Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, here on a state visit. The Emperor has ruled since 1916, before the President was born. Then he signs the Armed Services pay-raise bill that will add a fourteen percent increase to the pay of men in uniform. The same day he hears of a report on the situation in South Vietnam from Secretary of Defense McNamara and General Maxwell Taylor.
