Racehorse Kauai King Wins Kentucky Derby
A Maryland-bred colt with the Hawaiian name, "Kauai King", takes The Roses in the 92nd running of the Kentucky Derby at venerable Churchill Downs in Louisville. He broke from the gate as the leader and was never headed, winning by half a length over "Advocator" with "Blue Skyer", placing third.

Pro Hockey: Montreal Canadians Win Stanley Cup Playoffs
In the sixth game of the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Montreal Canadians win it in a sudden death overtime thriller, three to two, beating the Detroit Red Wings on their home ice in the Olympic Stadium. It's the second consecutive championship for the Canadians and their seventh in the last eleven years.
