Reds Threaten To Resume H-Bomb Tests
The terror of the H-Bomb once again casts its ominous shadow over the face of the earth as the Soviet Union Premier Nikita Khrushchev announces that the Russians will once again undertake nuclear tests. The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Adlai Stevenson, denounces the move as he expresses the views of the United States and allies of Democracy.
Allied Troops Escort West Germans Amid Red Threats
Free citizens of West Berlin, under the protection of Allied troops, go about their daily tasks well aware that their divided city has been pounced upon by Nikita Khrushchev as his frail reason for resuming Atom-bomb tests. Sidelights on life in a divided Berlin show a British school boy escorted to school by a British Armored personnel carrier after threats from East Berlin police. Shows East german workers building a block wall that separates East and West Berlin. Shows East German guards patrolling the Berlin Wall topped with barbwire. A bride is married in the East Berlin while her mother watches tearfully from West Berlin.
French Military Plane Strikes Cable Cars In Alps
Six perish as French military plane strikes cable cars in the French Alps. A French jet plane, while on a training flight crashes into a cable car tramway and sends two cars plunging into the valley killing six. Eighty-one others are rescued after 15 hours of harrowing drama.
Records Set In Famed Hambletonian Harness Races At Du Quoin
Harlan Dean sets two new marks in the famed Hambletonian Harness Races at Du Quoin, Illinois. In the first heat the horse, Harlan Dean, sets a new record of 1.58 and 2/5's. In the second heat the trotter, Harlan Dean, goes on to set a combined record of 3:57 and 2/5's. He picks up a $77,000 purse in the bargain.
