Drafting Charter To Form The United Nations
The San Francisco Conference of 46 United Nations, summoned to draft a charter for a post-war organization to secure peace, is officially opened by Secretary of State Edward Stettinius. In a speech from the White House, President Truman states "if we do not want to die together in war, we must learn to live together in peace."
Shows arrival of Anthony Eden, British Foreign Secretary followed by General Jan Smuts of South Africa. MacKenzie King led the Canadian delegation. Shows arrival of Vyacheslav Molotov of Russia followed by the French delegation and the delegation from Saudi Arabia. Shows arrival of U.S. Senator Tom Connally and Commander Harold Stassen.
