As Kansas City suburbs dig out in the wake of disasters, new twisters (tornados) spawned at a record rate and torrential rains continue in the U.S. causing havoc that stretched from Indiana to Texas in recent weeks. 53 have died and property and crop damages mounted high into the tens of millions.
