Egypt Accepts U.N. Cease-Fire In Six Day War With Israel
After four days of war Israeli forces drive across the Sinai to the Suez Canal, break the Gulf of Aqaba blockade, and take the Old City of Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War or Six-Day War in the Middle East. Some ten thousand Nigerian men and women volunteer to join the Nigerian Army after the eastern state of Biafra declared its independence. The Nigerian government declared unofficial war, saying Biafra would be crushed.
New York State Legalizes Lottery Gambling
New York State legalizes gambling by lottery, putting the first tickets on sale. It's a monthly million-dollar gamble to benefit education. Even losers are eligible for an annual quarter-million dollar "booby prize!". People line-up (inline) to buy lottery tickets.
Navy Air Strikes Against Targets In North Vietnam
U.S. Navy "Skyhawk" jets blast river boats and bridges over North Vietnam. They operate from the aircraft carrier USS Kittyhawk to destroy vital links used by the Vietcong to transport men and supplies.
Violent Protests In Berlin Germany Against The Shah Of Iran
Violent protest in Berlin Germany. Two thousand anti-Shah of Iran demonstrators clash with police outside the Berlin Opera House. The students denounce the Shah as a murderer. One student is killed and 44 injured during the violent demonstration.

Former boxing champion Cassius Clay meets with nine top African American athletes to discuss his anti-draft military stand. Cassius Clay refused to take oath of induction into U.S. Army. Jimmy Brown says Clay's attitude is sincere, based wholly on his Black Muslim religion.The nine African American athletes included Bill Russell, Lew Alcindor (later changed name to Abul-Jabbar after converting to Sunni Islam), and Jim Brown.
Dutch Grand Prix Formula One Race
The 1967 Dutch Grand Prix Formula One race at Zandvoort saw the debit of the Ford Cosworth DFV engine in Jim Clark and Graham Hill's Lotuse race cars. Jim Clark, Scotland, wins the Dutch Grand Prix, registering the fastest one-lap time of the race. Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, and John Surtees all go out with engine trouble.
