First Pictures Of Earth From Outer Space!
The first pictures of earth as seen from space was an historical event on October 24, 1946. Using a captured German V-2 Rocket, a flying laboratory including a motion picture camera, is launched 65 miles above the earth from New Mexico site. The instrument was damaged when it landed, but the amazing film record was safe. Clyde Holiday of John Hopkins University examining the damaged camera after return from space.
