A New Red Moon - Soviets Launch First Space Satellite
An animated film graphically show how a mighty three-stage rocket placed a Russian artificial moon into an orbit around the earth. A scientific feat that causes the Western countries to take a re-appraisal of the Soviet Union missile progress.
San Marino Defeats Communist Rule
The tiny republic of San Marino, an italian enclave micro-state surrounded by Italy, is claimed by two rival groups of government officials, one Communist, one Democratic. A disputed election saw the Red-dominated Communist incumbents guarded by police refusing to leave the Government Palace. News service reporters at a briefing inside the Palace as members of the defeated Communist government justify their stand. Shows members of the duly elected democratic government in a meeting held in a factory building.
Automatic Mine Laying Machine
U.S. Army Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia show new automatic mine-laying equipment, which digs a divot, plants the explosive, and neatly replaces the earth.
Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko Visits U.S.
Soviet Union Foreign Minister Gromyko visits United States and visits with U.S. Secretary of State Dulles at his home for an informal talk on the world situation, a constructive meeting between American and Russian governmental officials.

Swim suit fashions are shown giving the ladies a glimpse into the future beach wear that will be seen on the beaches in 1958. Lady swimsuit fashions inspired by the colors and flight of birds. Highlight of the collection previewed in New York was a gold lame Bikini swim suit priced at $1,000.

Pro Baseball: 1957 World Series New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Braves
World Series fever grips Milwaukee at County Stadium. In the fourth game Elston Howard of the New York Yankees faces Milwaukee Braves pitcher Warren Spahn in the ninth inning as the lagging New York Yankees even the score in the ninth inning. New York Yankees defeated by the Braves Eddie Matthew's 10th inning home run off Yankee pitcher Bob Grim.
