Peace In Laos As Factions Form New Alliance
Peace appears to be returning to strife-torn Laos with the formation of a coalition government of Right Wing, Communist and Neutralist leaders. The groundwork for the agreement was set by President Kennedy and Chairman Khrushchev in Vienna last June and it will be ratified by all-factions in Geneva. Alcatraz Prison Break - Three Convicts Escape The Rock
Three convicts escape "the Rock" on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. The spoon proves mightier than the bars at supposedly escape-proof Alcatraz Prison as three bank robbers, serving long terms, fashion dummies for their beds and escape after scratching through the cement walls of their cells. Whatever their fate, they seem to have accomplished what many others have failed to do. The prisoners that escaped Alcatraz were Frank Morris, Clarence Anglin, and John Anglin. Shows search of San Francisco Bay for the fugitives.

Prohibition had been repealed, but the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) was a very vocal minority when they convened in Washington. "I won 't drink, and I'll stop you from drinking", said one. Women of the WCTU make a statement.

Golfer Sam Snead fresh from the West Virginia hills, had his first U.S. Open Championship in his grasp when Ralph Guldahl came through with a sensational finish to take first place money. The 1937 U.S. Open golf tournament was played at Oakland Hills Country Club in Birmingham Michigan.
