Graduation Day 1932 At The U.S. Naval Academy
Annapolis MD. June Week is climaxed by the colorful and picturesque ceremony in Dahlgren Hall that brings to a close four years of strict preparation for careers with Uncle Sam’s sea force. Secretary of the Navy Charles Francis Adams ends the formal commencement with the presentation of the sheepskins and the awarding of ensign commissions. Brisk and precise, the future admirals snap through the affair with marked gravity. Tradition unseats dignity at the close of the graduation as the hats of the seniors fly in all directions in the historic custom that is an integral part of the annual exercises at the United States Naval Academy.
