Eve Of Passover Lower Eastside New York
Lower East Side Ghetto is Bee-Hive Of Activity On Eve Of Passover Fete in New York City in the 1930's. Street scenes of the lower East Side; scenes of push-carts lining the streets as Jews, Greeks, and Italians "hawk" their goods. Jews make preparations for the feast (Pesach or Pesah) commemorating the Exodus of the Israelites or Hebrews from Egypt. Shows woman cleaning fish, bearded Jewish man leaving store. Jews lined up for cartons of matzo (unleavened bread) at Streit's, a kosher food company on Rivington Street in New York City the week before Passover. Streit's Matzo.
