Divers Receive Medal Of Honor For Rescue Of Submarine USS Squalus
Washington DC. The Congressional Medal of Honor is bestowed upon four naval men for bravery during the rescue of the survivors of the ill-fated USS Squalus (SS-192) that sunk on May 23, 1939 off the coast of Portsmouth, N.H. Shows divers William Badders, Orson L. Crandall, James Harper McDonald and John Mihalowski receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor.
President Roosevelt looks on while former-Governor Murphy is sworn in at the White House as a Supreme Court Justice. Robert Jackson takes the oath as the new Attorney General.
