Gold Medals For Selfless Acts That Saved Lives
Robert C. Hendrickson, New Jersey State Senator, is awarded a gold metal for a life saving feat at sea from Herbert L. Satterlee, President of the Life Saving Benevolent Association of New York, for the rescue of William H. Sutton on May 22, 1938. CU, image of State Senator Robert C. Hendrickson.
Mrs Elizabeth R. Mason was also awarded a gold metal for swimming a mile to shore to bring aid to three companions clinging to an overturn boat in Peconic Bay July 22, 1939. A total of 25 persons received awards from the Life Saving Benevolent Association on March 7, 1940.
