The nuclear powered submarine USS Skate (SSN-578) penetrates the ice at the North Pole after a historic voyage under the winter Arctic ice. At Augusta Georgia 35-year old Art Wall, Jr. professional golfer wins the Masters Golf Tournament in what seems to be the strongest finishing round in the history of the notable event. With a closing 66 which included eight birdies, five of them in the last six holes, Wall came from six strokes off the lead carried into the fourth round by Arnold Palmer, the defending champion and Stan Leonard, Canadian. Art hopped over an even dozen in front of him to post a 72-hole total of 284 made up of rounds of 73-74-71-66. Shows Arnold Palmer teeing off at the Masters.
