Ban on beer is lifted. The nation's 13-year fight for liberalization of the prohibition laws wins approval as President Frank D. Roosevelt signs the Cullen-Harrison Act modifying the Volstead Act to permit 3.2 percent beer. The brewing industry will mean employment for one million persons.
