Rebel Factions Ignite Saigon Riots
U.S. backed Premier drives out rebels. A reign of terror is launched in Saigon, capital of South Vietnam, as rebel factions attempt to unseat the United States backed regime of Premier Ngo Dinh Diem. In savage street fighting that takes a heavy toll of civilians, Nationalist para-troops defeat the bid for power of a private army of ex-river pirates, the Binh Xuyen Force often linked to its infamous leader General Le Van Vien.
