Algeria Aflame With Riots And Unrest

President DeGaulle's visit to Algeria sets off renewed turmoil as he tries to rally support for the January referendum on the future self-determination of Algeria. Bloody riots in Algiers staged by European settlers. French settlers fighting French Army Troops loyal to the government in fierce duels in which Molotov cocktails and tear gas bombs used.

Moslem demonstrators surged out of the casbah or kasbah to match the violence of the Algerian Nationalist settlers. Shows French Army tanks and French Army Troops moving down the street.
