NASA Moon Rocket Explodes On Launch
After a series of brilliant launchings, the space team at Cape Kennedy runs into trouble. An Atlas Centaur rocket with a moon craft aboard fails just two seconds after blast-off. Two of its engines fail and the rocket falls back and explodes in a ball of fire. No one injured, but damages, including a twisted pad, are estimated at more than $5,000,000.
