Two New US Destroyers Added To America's Arsenal
Spectators watch as the destroyers USS Shaw DD-373 and the USS Cassin DD-372 slide down the ways in a double ship launching at League Island, Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. On a historical note the USS Shaw became famous for a iconic photograph of her forward magazine exploding during the Attack on Pearl Harbor 1941 while in the same attack the USS Cassin was declared lost and a new destroyer was recommissioned as the USS Cassin in 1944.
