Mid-West Hit Hard By Tornados and Floods
To the West, there was more tragedy as the swollen Mississippi River rose a foot every four hours. At sections along its banks, the famous “Father of Waters” was more than 27 feet at crest, 13 feet above flood stage. 39 counties in Minnesota were declared disaster areas as the flood crest barrels down stream towards St. Paul.
1965 Baseball Season Begins
In Washington, the baseball season becomes official as President Lyndon Johnson throws out the first ball of the baseball season in the Nation's Capital.
1965 Masters Pro Golfer Jack Nicklaus Makes History
