Nazis Strike: Reel-3

On March 12, 1938 the Germany Army marched into and occupies Austria. Shows Hitler riding (standing) in an open car in Vienna. Hitler next threatened to invade Czechoslovakia unless Britain supported Germany's plans to takeover the Sudetenland. Shows the Skoda Works munitions plant. Hitler gives threatening speech. Desperate to avoid war and anxious to avoid an alliance with Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union Neville Chamberlain of Britain and Edouard Daladier of France agreed that Germany could have the Sudetenland. In return, Hitler promised not to make any further territorial demands in Europe.

On September 29, 1938 Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, Edouard Daladier and Benito Mussolini signed the Munich Agreement which transferred the Sudetenland to Germany. The Munich Agreement was greeted by riots in Czechoslovakia, but cheers by the French people. Chamberlain returned to London where he gave his "Peace in our time" speech while waving a copy of the Munich Agreement and telling the English people Germany and Great Britain would never go to war. History proved The Munich agreement to be the quintessential example of appeasement because Hitler soon violated the terms of the agreement. On March 14, 1934 the German Army invaded Czechoslovakia.
