Battle Action San Pietro Sector

U.S. soldiers of the 2nd Chemical Bn (Battalion) attached to the U.S. 36th Infantry Div. in Italy in 1943. Soldiers moving along dirt road to front line positions carrying mortars, ammo and supplies on soldier-drawn two wheeled carts and mule pack train.

Shows body of fifteen year old Italian boy killed by German bomb. Grief-stricken father and mother alongside. Grief stricken mother of boy is led away from boy's body. Soldiers digging out Private Sandine Jones of Manchester, Kentucky who was buried by several feet of earth as the result of the same bomb explosion. Soldier was unhurt; he smiles into camera. Shows Private Sandine supported by Army Medic.

Valmeyer IL Flood Scenes

Mississippi River flood scenes of Valmeyer, Ill August 1943. Shows civilians and military personnel in boats and other water craft looking for people in distress. Moving shots from boat of half-merged stores and post office of the town. Street signs at Main St and Fourth St. Army DUKW vehicle goes by with rescued boy and dog. DUKW rides up to dry land and small girl takes dog in her arms while soldiers help boy out onto ground.

Towns people remove bags from boat and load into truck. Rescued family on high ground. Rescued father, baby, and dog at side of road.
