New Scaled-Down Target Planes Now Radio-Controlled
At about 7 feet long these miniature target planes are under going final checks at an Army airbase. Launched from a catapult, these now radio-controlled target planes allow anti-aircraft gunners to hone their skills. The planes fitted with a parachute inside the fuselage can safely parachute to the ground after being hit where it is collected, patched up and re-used again. Note: Though not realized at the time, this is the starting history of the modern reconnaissance drone we see today.
The Liberation of WWII Korea
The 7th Infantry Division enters Pyongsong the capital of Korea as the city rejoices its liberation from Japanese forces which surrender to Allied forces with General John R. Hodge accepting for the US and United Nations. The Japanese Flag is lowered with the American Flag replacing it as a symbol to Korean people that liberation is at hand.
Hideki Tojo Prime Minister Of WWII Japan Attempts Suicide
American forces travel to Yokohama to arrest former Prime Minister Hideki Tojo of War Crimes only to find him near death after he shoots himself with an American-made 32cal automatic. Taken to the 98th Evacuation Hospital, doctors attempt to save his life with an American Sergeant a veteran of New Guinea giving his own blood for transfusions to save the alleged War Criminal so he can be brought to trial before the World.
Wild Horses Of Canada Rounded Up For Shipment To Post-WWII Europe
Wild Horses are rounded up to be shipped to post-WWII Europe to help in the rebuilding of the war-ravaged Continent. One herd a thousand-strong are driven by Canadian cowboys to a large corral.
Ambassador Spruille Braden Addresses The Political Turmoil In Argentina
Ambassador Spruille Braden, an out-spoken opponent to the dictatorial rule of of Juan Peron of Argentina returns to the US after leaving the Latin-American Country that is currently in political turmoil with mass demonstrations against its tyrannical Government - calling for free elections and a Democratic-style Government.
The Luxury Liner Europa Returns WWII Veterans Home To US
The luxury liner Europa, once the pride of Germany is now a war prize pressed into service to bring back 4,000 war-weary veterans of WWII Europe back home to the US. Entering New York Harbor the liner and its vets are greeted by jubilant crowds lining the docks. A Federal Marshal tapes a document to its hull declaring the Europa a US possession. One of the passengers is Lt. Col. Patrick Devereux commander of the US Marines defense of Wake Island in the early part of WWII is greeted by his 11-year old son after nearly 4 years in Japanese captivity during which both his wife and mother passing. Lt. Col. Devereux receives the Navy Cross in a ceremony honoring his heroic defense of the Wake Island against the overwhelming forces of WWII Japan.
In San Francisco, anxious relatives await on the flight line a transport planes fly in 80 released POWs at a time for joyful reunions with wives and family.
