President Harry S. Truman Takes A Brief Vacation
The President decorates Sergeant John D Hawk of Bremerton Washington. Taking a brief vacation before addressing the final session of the San Francisco Conference, President Truman goes fishing (you guessed it, they all got away), and then visits majestic Mount Rainier.
Abilene KS Welcomes Home General Dwight D. Eisenhower
The farm youth who left for West Point and a career that brought him worldwide fame returns to receive the honors of his hometown. “Ike” is welcomed as a neighbor, not as the hero who led his men to victory.
WWII Kamikaze Planes Attack US Naval Forces
Japanese “Kamikaze” pilots, in fanatical attempts to die for their Emperor, are shot down in numbers by one of our Task Forces. Some get through and crash their planes on the decks of our ships. Our men, attempting to bring their planes in safely, have plenty of trouble—one bursting in flames after landing.
The aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill, victim of these Japanese attacks, limps home safely after fighting off the attackers as dramatic pictures show.
