French President Charles De Gaulle Visits South America
On the first lap of his 20,000 mile South American tour, President Charles De Gaulle of France is acclaimed by the populaces of Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. Tight security marks the progress of the French leader because of the know presence in South America of former French-Algerian colonists, many of whom are dedicated to his destruction. President De Gaulle, though he will be 74 in November, shows no fear and goes among the people with soldierly unconcern. In his talks to the South Americans, he asks for better political ties and greater economic cooperation.
