Former Mayor William O’Dwyer and present Ambassador to Mexico faces New Hampshire’s Senator Charles W. Tobey in angry exchanges on the subjects of the ambassador’s conduct of cases while District Attorney of New York and campaign contributions.
VOLCANO EXPLODES IN JAPAN
Mount Mihara on the island of Oshima erupts and sends the island into a panic as it sends three streams of lava into the bordering villages. Rocks are thrown a thousand feet into the air.
REALISTIC COMBAT TRAINING FOR THOSE SLATED FOR KOREA
Members of the Sixth Infantry Division go through an indoctrination course which comes pretty close to being the real thing. Explosives and bullets teach the trainees some of the lessons learned in Korea.

SENATE GROUP HEARS TESTIMONY IN NEW YORK CRIME PROBE
Completing its hearings into the alleged tie-in between Frank Costello and new York politics, Senator Kefauver’s Crime Investigating Committee hears ex-Fireman Crane testify that he handed over $10,000 in cash to ex-Mayor William O’Dwyer. Mister O’Dwyer, now U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, denies the accusation. Alleged gambler Costello is also on the stand for the last time and when asked what he has done for his adopted country, replies, 'I paid my taxes'. In a searching summation of the New York hearings, Spruille Braden of the Citizen Crime Commission says that the tie-up between crime and politics is undermining the moral fiber of America.
NINE SETS OF TWINS ALL IN THE SAME ARMY UNIT
The Army is in for 'double trouble' when nine sets of twins (count ‘em, nine) show up in the very same outfit. Plenty tough on top sergeants and mess cooks when the eighteen soldiers line up for drill call, or swap places in the K.P. line.
INTER-CITY GOLDEN GLOVES BOXING
The fightingest feud in boxing. Finals of the Inter-City Golden Gloves bouts between new York and Chicago. Two of the top bouts are shown in this slam-bang round-up of fisticuff thrills, with knock-downs and knock-outs enlivening the proceedings.
VARIETY’S NEW HEART HOSPITAL
A new $1,500,000 Heart Hospital, conceived and financed by the Variety Club of the Northwest, is dedicated at the University of Minnesota. Thanks to philanthropic showmen, a dream finds a home.

FRENCH PRESIDENT VINCENT AURIOL VISITS U.S.
Marking the first visit of a French chief of state to the U.S. while in office, President Vincent Auriol accompanied by his wife and top French diplomats arrives in America for a state visit. The Big Town stages its most spectacular show for the arriving visitor, here to help strengthen the ties of Franco-American friendship. In Washington, President Harry S. Truman and members of his official family are on hand to greet President Auriol to the nation’s Capital.
AIRBORNE PARACHUTE ACTION IN KOREA
The mass parachute drop of 3,300 troops north of Seoul speeds the drive of UN forces to the 38th Parallel. The airborne units cut off trapped Reds south of the Parallel, General MacArthur arrives for his 14th visit to the front.
NAVY EXPANDS FLEET IN FACE OF CONTINUING WORLD THREAT
Spurred by huge appropriations by Congress, the Navy is daily adding to the list of war vessels being taken out of moth balls. And thousands of new recruits to man these ships are undergoing training for active duty.
INDO-CHINA REDS HAMMERED BY SPECIAL FRENCH TROOPS
IA communist strong hold along the Gulf of Siam is stormed and seized by French troops storming ashore from small boats. Great stores of arms and equipment are taken, and many natives return to safety with the raiding force.

U.S. VISIT OF PRESIDENT VINCENT AURIOL STRESSES UNITY WITH FRANCE
The visit of France’s Chief of State stresses the bonds of unity and friendship between his country and the U.S. during trip to the Naval Academy, M. Auriol pins medals on the academy flag. He also lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetary, prior to going to Capital Hill where he tells Congress of France’s determination to stand by the U.S. in the crusade against Communism.

When George Fortin, American G.I., met ten-year-old Anna Farano during the Italian invasion in 1943, he promised he would return someday and marry her. Today, wedding bells ring out as George and Anna, 17, are joined in holy wedlock.

Spy drama comes to grim climax as Judge Irving Kaufman passes sentence on the Rosenbergs, with accomplice Morton Sobell getting thirty years.
