A strike halting vital war shipments to our fighting forces overseas threatens to spread to other East Coast ports, as union leaders are unsuccessful in getting stevedores to return to their jobs, and pleas by military leaders are ignored.
U.S. BASEBALL STARS ON EXHIBITION TOUR TO JAPAN
Millions of screaming fans jam the Ginza to give Joe DiMaggio and other major league stars a royal welcome as they arrive to begin an exhibition tour that will take them as far as Korea.
REDS CONTINUE TO BE BLASTED IN KOREA
With peace talks again resumed, United Nations forces continue their offensive to keep the Reds off balance in case the truce again fails. Allied big guns open up along the front, and U.N. planes blast away with fire bombs at Red mountain positions.
SEASICKNESS PILL TESTED IN ENGLAND
Seasickness has always been a bitter pill to swallow, but now hardy British soldiers volunteer for tests to determine efficacy of new seasick pills. Tossed about on artificial ocean, the volunteers don’t all survive.
FIRST KOREAN WAR BRIDE ARRIVE IN THE U.S.
The first Korean war bride, and the first to reach the United States, gets a warm welcome from her in-laws as the ship docks. Yong Soon and her Sgt. John Morgan, arrive for a happy meeting with his parents.
