Combat pilots of West Germany's Luftwaffe are being trained by the United States Air Force in Palmdale, California. American-made F-104 jet fighters are being used to increase the air power of our once deadly enemy. The F-104 is capable of flying at fifteen hundred miles per hour and firing Sidewinder air to air missiles.

Natives of Bizerte in Tunisia flee the city fearing another breakout of fighting although a United Nations Security Council cease-fire order seems to have quieted things down for the time being.

RUSSIAN ASTRONAUT SUCCESSFULLY ORBITS THE EARTH 17 TIMES
Russia successfully sent a man into orbit 17 times around the earth travelling a total of four hundred thirty four thousand miles. Major Gherman Titov is the second Russian Astronaut to successfully circle the globe. He remained in orbit for a little more than 25 hours.
CANADA SETS OFF ONE HUNDRED TONS OF TNT IN BLAST TEST
Canada set off one hundred tons of TNT in a test to obtain data on the affects of shock and explosion to an area. This blast is one of many in a research program conducted since 1957.
LONG ISLANDERS GET A GLIMPSE AT THE FIRST U.S. HYDROFOIL BOAT
Long Islanders were treated to a close-up view of the first U.S. Hydrofoil ocean-going ship as it sailed down a highway on a truck to an Oyster Bay shipyard.
ANNUAL SAILING CONTEST IN HOLLAND BEGINS
An annual sailing contest is held in Holland using old time freighters propelled by sails. These boats at one time sailed the Frisian Lakes, but are no longer in use except for this event.

Cuba released a Pan American jet liner and passengers and crew returned to Miami to tell how the plane was forced to change its course to Havana as it was flying to Guatemala.

Former President Herbert Hoover celebrates his 87th birthday in New York City and makes a few comments about current affairs.

ALLIES PROTEST BERLIN PACT VIOLATION
With the border in Berlin between East and West firmly sealed, the Allies have swung to the belief that the Communists have pulled a propaganda blooper when they ended the free flow within the city. World opinion is heavily in favor of the West and the Russian propaganda machine seems content to let the onus rest on the East German regime and not on the Soviets themselves.
SOVIET STATEMAN ANASTAS MIKOYAN OPENS TRADE FAIR IN JAPAN
The Russians Number One salesman and Number Two Man, Anastas Mikoyan, opened the Soviet Trade Fair in Tokyo. That's the ostensible reason for his visit, but he also pressed the Japanese to sign a trade agreement; a suggestion they firmly rejected.
U.S. MILITARY BUILDUP MOVES INTO HIGH GEAR
The military buildup in the United states moved into high gear as the Department of Defense announced a program designed to build up the largest peacetime defense force in U.S. history.
PREHISTORIC CITY UNEARTHED IN MIDDLE EAST
A discovery of prime importance in tracing the history of Neolithic man is the excavation of a village in Jordan that dates back 6,000 years before Christ.
SPECTACULAR DIVING MEET
A climax to a season of swimming meets in Europe took place at Reutlingen, Germany with 70 of the top divers competing. Cameras captured breath-taking moving pictures of poetry in motion as divers soared from the high platform to the water below.

GERMANS HAIL VISITING U.S. VICE-PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON
In West Berlin, to reassure her citizens that the United states would never desert them in the face of Russian threats, Vice-President Lyndon Johnson is cheered long and loud by hundreds or thousands of West Germans.

As President Kennedy's envoy, V.P. Lyndon B. Johnson declares that freedom can prevail and peace will endure. He has a statement for East Berliners as he addressed 300,000 at City Hall: 'the days of tyranny are numbered'. Later, 1,500 American troops arrive in the beleaguered city after passing through East Germany without incident. They receive a huge celebratory welcome by the grateful city.
TUNISIANS DEMAND FRENCH LEAVE
Three days of rallies throughout Tunis have but one cry; 'France Get Out!'' On the eve of United Nations debate on the question, Tunisians demand that the French give up their Bizerte Naval Base, which was the center of fighting last July.
LAND-SEA BOAT GOES ANYWHERE
A six wheeled Stalwart truck is stalwart indeed. No terrain is too tough for it and it goes to sea under its own power. Later it plans to cross the channel on a trip to Germany from its British home.
RECORD FALLS IN SWIM MEET
The National AAU Men's Swimming Championships see record after record go by the board- ten in all. In the 200-meter free-style, Tsuyoshi Yamanaka sets a new mark of 2:00:04. Other new world marks are set in the breaststroke and butterfly held in Los Angeles.

ALLIES STAND FIRM AS BERLIN CRISIS ESCALATES
Berlin continues to be front-page news in every corner of the globe. West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer arrives in West Berlin for a visit that proves a great morale booster to the German people as the Reds continue to pile charge upon charge against the West. The Chancellor makes a tour of the border and was the object of taunts from East German broadcasting trucks.
THE ICE CAPADES RETURNS HOME FROM TOUR IN MOSCOW
They wowed them in Moscow and now they are back in the U.S. It is the Ice Capades ready for their 22nd annual tour at home.
HOLLYWOOD FILM 'COME SEPTEMBER' PREMIERES
In these days of holding world premieres in all parts of the world, Universal International, holds one right in Hollywood's back yard; Beverly Hills. The new picture premiere is attended by Sandra Dee, Bobby Darin and Rock Hudson who are in the motion picture that also stars Gina Lollobrigida and Walter Slezak.

BERLIN HOLD COLLECTIVE BREATH AS THEY WAIT NEXT MOVE BY ALLIES
There's a period of watchful waiting in Berlin as the West Berliners await the next move of the Allies. The East Germans open two offices in the West to issue travel permits and they are promptly closed by the Allies who refuse to recognize the need for permits. West German Mayor Willy Brandt is joined by Economics Minister Ludwig Erhardt in a tour of the border area which is comparatively quiet; for now.
HONG KONG REACTS SWIFTLY TO CHOLERA SCARE
The teeming colony has been struck by one of man's most dreaded diseases; Cholera. Streets are scrubbed and food sanitation laws are tightened as more than one million are inoculated in the first three days.
NEW SNOW REMOVAL METHOD TESTED IN NEW YORK CITY
New York City tests a new snow removal device that promises to get rid of the white stuff twice as fast as old methods. It's a truck with a furnace that quickly makes water out of snow and flushes it down the sewers.
ITALIAN FASHION DESIGNERS SHOW WORLD THE NEW LOOK FOR THE FALL SEASON
Italian designers are continuing their all-out war on Paris for the title of center for high fashion and they seem to have plenty of ammunition in their new Fall collections.
A NEW STAR SHINES IN LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES
The Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania produced the kind of hero you only find in books. Mike Salvatore of the EI Cajon California team pitched a no-hit ball against EI Campo of Texas and to top it off slammed a three-run homer to win the game.
