Delegates from 25 lands representing 750,000,000 people; the so-called Neutrals; met in Belgrade. The opening of the Conference was over shadowed by the resumption of the Russians' A Bomb tests. They resumed nuclear experiments on the eve of the neutralist summit Meeting and the delegates expressed their outrage and shock.
FIGHTING BETWEEN SOUTH VIETNAM GOVERNMENT FORCES AND VIET CONG CONTINUES
South Vietnam troops steped up their attack on Viet Cong rebels and killed nearly 500 in an ambush after the rebels were chased from Cambodia by that government’s troops.
RARE PICTURES OF PEKING FROM RED CHINA
Rarely do the Chinese Reds allow Peking to be photographed and these pictures of the visit of President Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana were released for propaganda purposes.
WALL COLLAPSES, 23 DIE IN SOUTH KOREAN CAVE-IN
Police and Army personnel dug frantically, but in vain, to save the victims of a collapsed retaining wall in Seoul. Twenty-three bodies were removed.

The dying winds of hurricane Carla generate new terror as devastating tornadoes spring up in her wake. Nearly fifty die in the tornadoes that the hurricane spawned. Property losses are staggering as waters from the Gulf flood towns 15 miles inland. Some towns have been completely wiped out.
CONGO STRIFE CONTINUES AS UNITED NATIONS TROOPS OCCUPY KATANGA PROVINCE
In a surprise move, U.N. troops move to take over Congo's Katanga Province and end fourteen months of secession from the central Government. Claiming victory, confused reports indicate fighting still continues.
AMERICAN LEGION RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF MOTION PICTURES IN AWARD CEREMONY
At the veterans' organization convention in Denver, The American Legion pays tribute to the role that Motion Pictures play in informing the public. Jack L. Warner is on hand to accept a plaque for the Industry.
RACE OF DEATH - DRIVER AND RACE FANS KILLED IN ITALIAN GRAND PRIX
Count Wolfgang von Trips, nearing the world championship, sideswipes a car in a race near Monza, Italy. He plows into the crowd and eleven die along with the noted driver while 25 more are injured.

U.N. GENERAL SECRETARY DAG HAMMARSKJOLD KILLED ON EVE OF U.N. SESSION
Dag Hammarskjold, soldier of peace, dies in a Congo plane crash in the midst of his attempts to bring peace in the fighting between United Nations and Katanga troops. A man who dedicated his life to international understanding and brotherhood, Mr. Hammarskjold strove mightily to bring hostile camps together and to bring peace to world trouble spots. Killed as the U N meets in New York, his death probably will bring a bitter fight between East and west over his successor. His career in the U N was highlighted by his sober, judicial efforts to seek justice for the smaller nations.
WEST BERLIN POLICE SHOW OFF THEIR SKILLS WITH MOTORCYCLE GYMNASTICS
Berliners, rightly proud of their police force, turn out en masse to see West Berlin officers put on their annual show of motorcycle gymnastics and obstacle races. Their dogs get in the act, too, and steal the show.
A RACE HORSE CALLED 'OINK' WINS HANDICAP
The Chicago horse proves the fleetest of foot in, the $100,090 Handicap at Atlantic City as he cops $65,000 first money. 'Carry Back' the Kentucky Derby winner was the heavy favorite, but wound up way in the rear and soundly trounced.

U.N. PAYS TRIBUTE TO FALLEN U.N. GENERAL SECRETARY DAG HAMMARSKJOLD
The first session of the sixteenth General Assembly of the UN meets under the shadow cast by an empty chair. After adjourning the day before in tribute to Dag Hammarskjold, the first order of business is the election of Mongi Slim of Tunisia as Assembly President for the coming year. The vote is 90-to-O, as flags fly at half-mast in Sweden. Adlai Stevenson gives a heartfelt and moving eulogy.
SECRETARY OF STATE DEAN RUSK MEETS WITH SOVIET FOREIGN MINISTER ANDREI GROMYKO
U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk and Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko meet for the first of a series of conferences. They hope to resolve their differences and reach some common ground in reducing international tensions.

The French patrol, a unit of highly trained stunt fliers, put their craft through a series of stunts guaranteed to leave you breathless.

PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY OUTLINES DISARMAMENT PLAN TO UNITED NATIONS
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, President Kennedy outlines a United States plan for step-by-step disarmament. He also called for a single Secretary-General, rejecting Russia's proposal for a three-man Presidium and made it clear that the United states and its allies would fight, if necessary, to keep West Berlin free. The Chief Executive received a standing ovation when he concluded his quiet, forceful speech.
QUEEN JULIANA FORMALLY CONVENES PARLIMENT OF THE NETHERLANDS
Queen Juliana presides over a ceremony that reflects the pomp of the ages as she formally convenes the Parliament of the Netherlands. Sitting in an oppulent coach, she rides through streets among cheering crowds who hail their beloved ruler.

FINAL TRIBUTE PAID AS U.N. GENERAL SECRETARY DAG HAMMARSKJOLD IS LAID TO REST
The dedicated man who led the United Nations along the hard road to peace and brotherhood is buried in his native Sweden. King Gustaf Sixth Adolph leads the homage to Dag Hammarskjold as he is accorded a state funeral; the first commoner in Sweden to be so honored. At services in Upsala Cathedral, world leaders, including Vice-President Lyndon Johnson and U.N. Ambassador Stevenson, pay final tribute.
A NEW HOME RUN KING IS CROWNED: ROGER MARIS SLAMS HOMERUN NUMBER 61!
The crowd in Yankee stadium for the final game of the year was not there to see the Yankees, but Roger Maris. They got their reward as the home run slugger sends his 61st round-tripper into the stands and sets a new season's record. However, baseball moguls have ruled that Babe Ruth's record for a shorter season will have to be broken within 154 games.

The 83,000 packed into Ohio State Stadium at Columbus expect to see the Buckeyes steamroller their way to victory over the Horned Toads of Texas Christian University. However, though Bob Ferguson carries 14 times in Ohio's first touchdown drive for a touchdown, T C U comes back in the last quarter to score and tie up the game- a moral victory for T C U.

SYRIA REVOLTS SCRAPPING PACT WITH NASSER
The Nasser vision of a single great Arab nation collapses overnight as Syria revolts against his rule and proclaims itself an independent state. Anti-Nasser demonstrations break out through out Syria after an Army coup. The new Chief of staff, General Abdel Zahreddin holds a press conference as does the new cabinet head, Dr. Mahmoun Kuzbari who says there will be free elections within four months.
SUDAN PRESIDENT IBRAHIM ABBOUD VISITS WASHINGTON
After a warm welcoming parade through the streets of Washington, President Ibrahim Abboud of the Sudan is entertained at the White House with a state dinner and a precedent-shattering presentation of excerpts from Shakespeare.
MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY OPENS CHARITY DRIVE
The Motion Picture Industry opens its 20th Anniversary Campaign to raise more than a million dollars for charitable and medical organizations. Campaign Chairman David Lipton receives the first contribution; $55,000 presented on behalf of Samuel Goldwyn.
ITALIAN DESIGNERS SAY FUR IS IN THIS CHRISTMAS!
Italy comes up with new designs on every woman's dream; luxurious furs. Every fur from leopard to chinchilla is represented and they run into warm prices, too -- 2,500,000 lira and up. Oh, well, that's only $4,000 or so.
