THE WAR IN KOREA
Late films from the fighting front in Korea! Under cover of round-the-clock air attacks on Red positions, United Nations forces advance slowly against stiff resistance put up by North Koreans and their new allies, the Chinese communist "volunteers." U.S. Marines win new ground during stubborn fighting. Meanwhile, behind the lines, Red prisoners receive humane treatment in POW camps.

THE CONTROL OF CONGRESS
U.S.A. Although the Democrats retain a working majority in Congress, as of this moment, the contested election results in some states may affect that majority. In New York, W. Kingsland Macy, center in the controversial Hanley letter affair, appears to have lost out to his Democrat rival. And in Michigan, Governor Williams, who seemed defeated at first, now has pulled back into the lead.

CITY HONORS GALLANT WARSHIP
SAN FRANCISCO Eight years later, survivors and next of kin of hundreds who died in a flaming one-sided battle off Guadalcanal, pay tribute to the "San Francisco." A plaque commemorating the battle is unveiled.

"SOONERS" GRID STREAK INTACT
LAWRENCE, KANSAS Oklahoma's record victory streak remains intact, as the "Sooners" come from behind to quell a surprising Kansas "Jayhawker" team by a score of 33-13. Long aerials and long runs feature this thriller that makes it "28" for Oklahoma.

WINTER WEATHER SLOWS UN FORCES AS ALLIES DRIVE FOR BORDER
KOREA Bitter winter weather adds to the woes of the United Nations allies as they drive for the Manchurian border. Hundreds of Red Chinese prisoners are taken during the latest drives by American troops, as spearheads reach the Yalu River on the northern front.

PILGRIMS DIE IN AIR CRASH
FRANCE Tragedy strikes Holy Year pilgrims returning from Rome. Their Canada-bound plane strikes a peak in the Alps near Grenoble, and all 58 are killed in the crash.

UN AIDS ARAB REFUGEES
MIDDLE EAST In Palestine and in bordering countries, the Arab refugee problem grows acute. Thousands are homeless and in need of food and clothing and medical care. The United Nations is helping.

ILLINOIS TOPS OHIO STATE
CHAMPAIGN, IL. The Fighting Illini pull a surprise upset by toppling the favored Buckeyes of Ohio State in a thriller. Long passes help in this victory that enhances Illinois' Rose Bowl chances. Final score: 14-7.

PRINCETON ROUTS YALE
NEW HAVEN In their 74th meeting, the Princeton Tiger and the Yale Bulldog clash before 60,000 in The Bowl. Princeton rides roughshod over the Elis, scoring at will to complete a 47-12 rout.

PRO RAMS SHADE YANKS
NEW YORK In a pro clash at Yankee Stadium, the Los Angeles Rams, sparked by Bob Water-field, throttle the New York Yanks to clinch the league title. Fancy passing, and thrill-packed runs.

NEW YORK Scores are killed and hundreds injured when two Long Island Thanksgiving Eve Commuter Trains crash. The second major rail disaster in the nation in less than three months.

FLOODS ON RAMPAGE IN FAR WEST
CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA Thousands are homeless and the damage runs into the millions in the wake of floods that sweep wide areas in California and Nevada. Air views vividly show the extent of the damage, as rain-swollen rivers overflow their banks. Helicopters and Ducks aid in evacuating the flooded inhabitants.

RECONSTRUCTION IN KOREA
SEOUL ECA Administrator William Foster arrives to survey the damage in Korea and to plan for American aid in reconstructing the war ravaged country.

DOG TAGS FOR EVERYONE
WASHINGTON Pres. Truman receives the first of 150 million civilian dog tags being distributed to every person in the country. The tags will help determine blood needs in time of emergency.

5 MILE LONG CHRISTMAS CARD
NEW YORK Part of a campaign to raise funds for the Will Rogers Memorial Hospital, volunteers start getting signatures for a five mile long Christmas Card to be sent to the hospital.

20,000 MILES BY WHEELBARROW
ELLENSBURG, WA. Larry Hightower, ex-cowboy turned world traveler, gets a hero's welcome when he returns home after pushing a wheelbarrow for 20,000 miles, through the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

NEW STAR IN HOLLYWOOD
A new star enters the ranks of the film greats. It's Bonzo, the clever chimp, who creates quite a sensation when he arrives on the Universal lot to sign up for Bedtime With Bonzo.

PHILADELPHIA Francis Reds Bagnell, Penn's flashy tailback, is our choice for All-American football honors. Watch him play in the Penn-Wisconsin game, which Penn won 20-0, and you'll agree that he's one of the top backs in the business.

Eight states ravaged by hundred mile an hour gale, slowly dig out after being battered by pounding surf, which floods many sections. Particularly hard hit is the Metropolitan area of New York. Communications are cut and traffic is brought to a standstill. With airports under water all air traffic is halted.

CHINESE REDS ARRIVE AT UN
LAKE SUCCESS Members of the Chinese Communist delegation arrive at the United Nations to debate their intervention in Korea and to charge United States aggression in Formosa. They are greeted by Soviet Delegate Jacob Malik and received by Secretary General Trygv e Lie.

SANTA'S IN TOWN
From New York, to Seattle youngsters are treated to a foretaste of the Yuletide season as Santa presides over parades for their benefit.

PRINCETON NOSES OUT DARTMOUTH
PRINCETON, N.J. Playing in a gale and driving rainstorm, Dartmouth's Indians give the Tigers a battle royal in a sea of mud, before succumbing to the powerhouse 14-7.

NORTHWESTERN 14 ILLINOIS 7
EVANSTON, IL. The Illini, hot favorites for, a Rose Bowl bid, bow out as they take a stunning upset defeat from Northwestern 14-7.

STANFORD 7 CALIFORNIA 7
BERKELY, CA. The Stanford Indians hold the heavily favored Golden Bears to a tie in one of the hardest fought games of the season.

WAR SCARE GRIPS WORLD
TRUMAN HINTS USE OF A-BOMB IN KOREA CRISIS
Fears that World War III may be near grip the world, as Red Chinese hordes threaten to engulf U.N. forces fighting in Korea. In Washington, Pres. Truman calls a press conference and announces that the U. S. is considering the use of its prime weapon, the atom bomb, in the Korean crisis. At the United Nations, historic meeting hears Red China branded as aggressors, and Western Allies marshal their forces for a definite stand against appeasement and further encroachment of communism.

JAP WAR LEADER FREED
TOKYO Japan's wartime Foreign Minister, who signed the surrender on the "Big Mo", is released from Tokyo's war criminal penitentiary after serving four years of a seven-year term. Gen. MacArthur paroled Mamoru Shigemitsu despite Russian objections.

GREEK CHILDREN RELEASED
GREECE At the Yugo border, thousands of Greek children kidnapped by Red guerillas during the civil war in Greece are released under the aegis of the Internat'l Red Cross. Heartwarming scenes of reunion.

SLAM-BANG BOXING!
PARIS It's a slam-bang exhibition of boxing at its best when Sugar Ray Robinson of New York gets the measure of France's Jean Stock in two minutes of the second round. The Frenchman's manager "throws in the towel" after his man had been clubbed to the canvas three times in the savage bout.

WAR OR PEACE?
BRITISH, U. S. STRENGTHEN TIES AS KOREAN CRISIS THREATENS PEACE
As more and more Chinese Reds force the U.N. forces back in retreat, and cut off some units, Britain and the United States act to strengthen their historic ties. While American and British troops fall back in Korea, Pres. Truman and Prime Minister Atlee meet in Washington, to take a stand against any appeasement and to re-affirm the bonds that link the two great allies. Atlee's speech before the National Press Club forcefully points up the alliance.

ANGLO-U. S. FILM AGREEMENT FORMALLY SIGNED IN NEW YORK
Officials of the nation's leading motion picture companies gather for the signing of an agreement under which American films will be distributed in Great Britain. Eric Johnston of the M.P.A. and Ellis Arnall of the Independent Producers speak for this country. Trade expert Ruppert Somervell represents the British group.

BASKETBALL!
C.C.N.Y. TOPS BRIGHAM YOUNG IN OPENER
NEW YORK Basketball is back! In a thrill-packed debut at Madison Square Garden, the City College "Beavers" eke out a close 71-69 decision over the visiting Cougars. Action packed right from the start, it's a pulse-tingling exhibition on the basketball court.

MACARTHUR VISITS KOREAN FRONT
General MacArthur pays his first visit to Korea since the Chinese Red attack and confers with field commanders. General Lawton Collins returns to Washington after a tour of the battle area and conferences with General MacArthur. The late Al Jolson's son receives the Medal of Merit awarded his father posthumously for his work in entertaining the troops in Korea and Japan.

NEW JET BOMBER READY
KANSAS Full production is underway on the new B-47 Stratojet bomber, Boeing's 600 m.p.h. "world's fastest" bomber. As planes roll off as-sembly line, they are given colorful test flights.

SPECTACULAR OIL FIRE
ITALY Spectacular scenes of a raging oil well fire. Hundreds of nearby residents flee in terror as the flames shoot skyward at the height of the inferno.

KIDS GET DISASTER TAGS
SAN FRANCISCO School children receive tags that will help them in time of national emergency. Everyone in the nation is to receive the identification tags for protection in time of war.

COLLEGE PARK, MD. Texas A. & M. versus Georgia in the first Presidential Cup football classic. A free-scoring thriller, with the Texas Aggies running up thirty-three points in the first half. Final score: Texas A. & M. 40 - Georgia 20.

UN FORCES GRIMLY HOLD ON TO THEIR KOREAN BEACHHEAD
KOREA Dramatic first pictures of the arrival of the entrapped First Marines at Hamhung, and the evacuation of UN forces from Hungnam, the nearby port. With the Chinese reds pressing in from three sides, 10th Army troops fight a skillful delaying action to complete the evacuation by sea of much valuable arms and equipment. Nearby, at a Korean cemetery, Marines bury their dead and salute their buddies fallen in combat.

PRESIDENT PUTS NATION ON ALL-OUT WAR FOOTING
WASHINGTON Calling on all Americans to tighten their belts in the face of the gravest threat to our national security, Pres. Truman signs the emergency proclamation that puts this nation on a war footing. No appeasement of communism is the rallying cry as America heeds its President's call to arms.

ANCIENT TOMB DISCOVERED
EGYPT In the famed "Valley of Kings" at Luxor, archeologists have dug down 150 feet to discover the tomb of Mentemhet, Prince of Thebes. Mummies and other amazing relics of the Seventh Century Before Christ are found in the well-preserved tomb.

GIRL WHO WED MUSLIM HOME
HOLLAND 13-year-old Bertha Hertogh, the Dutch girl who was married to a Muslim and whose annulment set off a wave of Muslim rioting in Singapore, comes back to Holland with her mother after a stormy life in the Orient.
