ISRAEL BORDER OPENED:
The sealed border between Israel and Jordan is opened to permit Christian pilgrims from around the world to visit the hallowed places of the Bible during the Holy season.

HAIR-RAISING HAIR-DOS:
In Rome, ladies of fashion start the New Year with new coiffures, and they’re joined by their pets – poodles and even a chic chimp. A silly salon soene to start the year in style.

COLTS TRAMPLE GIANTS- 31-16:
Battling in Baltimore for the pro gridiron championship, the New York Giants make it a close contest against the defending champs, the Colts until the 4th quarter turns into a rout. Johnny Unitas’ quarterbacking and passing pays off with 24 points for Baltimore for a staggering final score of 31-16.

KHRUSHCHEV GREETS GOVERNORS:
Nikita Khrushchev plays host to 7 United States Governors during their tour of Russia, and tells the State executives of Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, Utah, Idaho, North Dakota and New Jersey that he would like to exchange visits with President Eisenhower.

JET IN PERIL:
A two-fold story, of the Trans-Atlantic jet that narrowly escaped destruction with 113 aboard, coming in with damaged landing gear, and the shocking sidelight of 50,000 thrill-seekers who surge across Idlewild Field in New York, hampering emergency rescue teams and actually imperiling the hazardous landing try.

LOS ANGELES BRUSH FIRE:
On Los Angeles’ hottest day of the year, a disastrous brush fire in the elite Laurel Canyon suburb, racing through the drought parched arca to destroy dozens of luxury homes in a four hour holocaust.

QUEEN IN SAULT ST. MARIE:
Queen Elizabeth’s Canadian tour carries her to the “Soo”, the famous shipping and steel center of Sault Ste. Marie, where she and Prince Philip tour the Canadian industrial city.

AIR FESTIVAL:
In Spain, a spectacular show featuring jet-speed aerobatics, and a brilliant demonstration of precision dare-deviltry as Franco’s paratroop commandoes hit the silk en masse.

A double-feature in the most eye-appealing of sports, the A.A.U. platform diving championships in San Francisco. Repeat winners this year are Gary Tobian, men’s division, and “P.J.” Pope in the flying mermaids.
