ABILENE, KANSAS – 7,500 friends and neighbors attend the dedication of the Eisenhower Memorial Museum at the President’s boyhood home. The entire Eisenhower family is reunited, looking over the more than 2,400 mementos comprising the historic collection.

LAFAYETTE, IND. – Purdue’s Boilermakers put up a stiff fight to make an exciting game, but Ohio emerges still undefeated, and looking more and more like Rose Bowl material with a resounding 28-6 victory.

YALE vs PRINCETON:
NEW HAVEN, CONN. – In the 77th Tiger Bulldog clash, Princeton’s Royce Flippin comes back from a month on the sidelines to spearhead an assault that upsets the Big Blue in the closing seconds, 21-14.

INDO-CHINA CATHOLICS RESCUED:
INDO-CHINA – Catholics fleeing Red-held territory by the thousands in a desperate raft journey across the Gulf of Tonkin are saved from their precarious half-foundering craft in dramatic scenes. Meanwhile, Red troops fighting below the 18th Parallel when the armistice was signed are repatriated aboard Russian vessels.

LOCUST PLAGUE:
MOROCCO – Following days of rain, a scourge of locusts devastates the North African land, swarming over hundreds of thousands of acres of orange groves, olive groves, and farmland – even attacking animals and children.

H’WOOD HONORS POLAR FLIERS:
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA – Motion picture leaders and stars gather on the Universal “lot” to honor Scandinavian leaders and flight members of historic plane that inaugurated commercial flights over the North Pole.

NATO CHIEFS MEET IN CAPITOL:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Military chiefs of 14 North Atlantic Treaty nations convene to shape strategic plans for the coming year. The session assumes added importance with imminence of Paris Treaty ratification uniting western Europe.

SEATTLE SEND-OFF FOR SANTA:
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Christmas is just around the corner, when Seattle stages its pre-Xmas Santa Claus Parade, first of the year. Colorful parade of storybook characters gets season off to a gala start.

THE FOOTBALL PARADE:

GERMANY – Former President Herbert Hoover, arriving as a special guest of the Bonn Government, is greeted at the Cologne Airport by Chancellor Adenauer and high ranking officials.

KING-SIZE XMAS TOYS:
ALLENTOWN, PA. – Spectacular toys from Santa’s workshop on parade – bigger than life clowns and jugglers, lions, elephants, and a host of other comical animated creations.

U.S. SQUADRON UNDER DUTCH COMMAND:
HOLLAND – For the first time since World War II, a foreign combat unit – a U.S. fighter squadron – is stationed on Dutch soil, and placed under Dutch command.

MARBLE QUARRIES:
ITALY – Revitalized by U.S. aid are the famed quarries of Carrara, source of the marble of which ancient Rome was built, from which Michelangelo carved his masterpieces – today the scene of the greatest activity in years.

GREENWICH, CONN. – Fashions for the junior set, presented in a little drama in which three young swains come a courting with flowers, only to be kept waiting by the Little Ladies in the manner of maids immemorial.

L.A. RAMS vs N.Y. GIANTS IN GRID THRILLER:
NEW YORK – Gridiron thrills and irony as the goal posts stymie last minute scoring attempts by both Rams and Giants. “Deacon Dan” Towler bounces out of touchdown territory, and Agajanian’s field goal try is deflected, hitting the crossbar. The Rams win a squeaker, 17-16.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Columbine III, President Eisenhower’s new Flying White House, is christened by Mrs. Eisenhower as the President and Britain’s Field Marshal Montgomery looks on. Bigger and faster than its famous predecessor, it features latest aviation safety devices.

HISS LEAVES PRISON:
LEWISBURG, PA. – Alger Hiss once advisor to Presidents leaves Federal Penitentiary after serving 3 years and 8 months of his term for perjury, telling newsmen that he will continue to strive for vindication.

CHURCHILL’S 80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED:
LONDON – As Sir Winston Churchill celebrates his 80th birthday, gifts and tribute pour in from all over the world for Britain’s Prime Minister, one of the great world leaders of this century.

HOOVER HONORED BY GERMAN UNIVERSITY:
GERMANY – Former President Herbert Hoover receives an honorary degree – his 81st – from Tubingen University, in a high point of his good will tour of West Germany.

QUEEN MOTHER RETURNS:
ENGLAND – Queen Mother Elizabeth is greeted by her daughter the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Royal children as she returns from her triumphal tour of the United States and Canada, to the acclaim of the nation.

NAVY SINKS ARMY, 27-20:
PHILADELPHIA – One of the most thrilling games in the classic 55-year interservice grid rivalry. An underdog Navy “team of desire” puts up a thrilling battle against the Cadets every second. The teams are close in all the game statistics, but the inspired Midshipmen come through when the chips are down to out-point Army in a gridiron classic.

KOREA DEPOT BURNS – The latest in Korea’s post-war series of conflagrations, a 24 hour blaze that does $75 million damage in the U.S. Army’s largest quartermaster depot here.

TROUBLE IN ALGERIA – French troops range through the rugged Aures mountains, searching for nationalist rebels fomenting trouble in the North African land.

THREE OF A KIND – From Holland, a novel story of three farm lassies who’ve trained three horses to do all kinds of tricks, including sitting down to dinner with the girls.

BROWN-GIANTS FOOTBALL – At the Polo Grounds in New York, the Cleveland pro gridders squelch Giant hopes for Eastern Championship with a 16-7 victory marked by three field goals by Lou Groza.

HOMEMADE HOMICIDE – Cameraman’s title for race of homemade autos at Crescent City, California. Built by amateurs, without blueprints, the novel speedsters really tear up the local track.

The first operational air-to-air guided missile is shown in action. The Navy’s Terrier tracks down a flying target with uncanny speed and accuracy, circling in to demolish its prey in a chilling preview of airwar of the future. It’s a highlight of a spectacular review of guided missile progress.

JAPAN’S FIRST JET WING takes to the air. The first U.S. trained jet pilots, among them World War II veterans, fly in graduation exercises.

SANTA VISITS THE DOG POUND in Seattle with a sack-full of wieners. It’s a pre-Xmas party for homeless pooches, a waggish idea for the holiday.

NEW ORLEANS – The historic 3rd Infantry Division debarks and parades to receive the acclaim of the city. Among the greeters, Audie Murphy, a 3rd Division veteran, and World War II’s most decorated soldier.
FORTT BENNING, GA. – In impressive ceremonies, Secretary Stevens bestows new honors on the historic 3rd Division, one of America’s greatest fighting units.

FOOTBALL
DETROIT LIONS TIE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES in a pro grid thriller at Detroit’s Briggs Stadium. The Lions tie to clinch the Western Division title, but they have to come from behind to do it.
PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP – Frankford High is pitted against Southeast Catholic in the 17th Edition of the City Classic. Unbeaten Southeast uncorks a power-house attack to win, 34-0.

BOXING:
OLSON AND LANGLOIS sign for a title bout in San Francisco. The World Middleweight champion, Bobo Olson, and Pierre Langlois. Europe’s outstanding contender, greet cordially at the signing, but later in training, each shows that he’s in fine form and pointing for the big bout.

UNITED NATIONS – The General Assembly votes overwhelmingly for immediate debate on U.S. Delegate Lodge’s motion to censure Red China for spy charges against 11 U.S. airmen, a rebuff to Communist stalling tactics.

WORLD NEWS IN BRIEF:
BERLIN ELECTIONS oust Mayor Walther Schreiber, an Adenauer supporter, as the Social Democrats win in a surprise showing. Communists poll only 2% - West Berlin remains an oasis of freedom.

VENEZUELA’S BOOM CONTINUES:
President Perez Jiminez dedicates the newest in a nation’s fabulous building program – housing projects and South America’s largest, most modern hospital.

WORLD’S FIRST HELIPORT is dedicated at Ft. Eustis, Va. Built at a cost of $1,000,000 it’s the first skyport designed to serve helicopters exclusively – a new pattern for the air age.

SKI-SKATES are the latest novelty on California roads. They were cooked up when the inventors – ardent ski-fans – were stranded without snow. Now all they need is a stretch of pavement, and look at ‘em go.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – The 60,000 ton super-carrier “Forrestal” is launched. First of her class, she’s the world’s largest warship, an awesome achievement in naval architecture.

FLOODS RAVAGE IRELAND:
Dublin is inundated by heavy rains and the overflowing Liffey and Tolka Rivers, the worst flood here in living memory. London, England, too, is hit by heavy weather – a freak tornado that destroys thousands of pounds worth of property.

PRESIDENT FILMS FARM:
As his Pennsylvania farm house nears completion, President Eisenhower – the country’s most photographed man – turns cameraman to film the work’s progress.

DRAMATIC HOMECOMING:
Canadian Air Force hero, Squadron Leader Andrew Mackenzie, who returns home after two year’s imprisonment in Red China. A moving scene of reunion with his wife – who never gave up hope.

ROCKETS GUARD CAPITAL:
