OLD and NEW WORLDS CELEBRATE EASTER
In the Vatican, tens of thousands defy the rain to gather before St. Peter's Basilica for the Easter message and blessing of Pope John XXIII. In Augusta, Georgia, President and Mrs. Eisenhower and their family attend services. At the Hollywood Bowl, the traditional, beautiful Sunrise Service.

INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW:
At the New York Coliseum, the International Auto Show draws throngs to see the new models of manufacturers of the U. S. and 9 foreign lands, and a dazzling panorama of "dream" cars.

SAUCER SUB EXPLORES DEEP:
In the Mediterranean, a new saucer-shaped two-man sub, developed by famous undersea explorer Jacques Cousteau, begins explorations of the Continental Shelf. Powered by hydro-jets, the exciting craft resembles a bug-eyed monster of the deep.

ICE-BREAKERS CLEAR ST. LAWRENCE:
On the St. Lawrence, pack ice moving down river jams to form barriers up to 20 feet thick, menacing Spring shipping. For three days around the clock, sturdy ice-breakers battle to clear a channel. .

AQUA-KITE CHAMP:
A San Francisco teen-ager goes aloft via kite and aqua-skis, dangling from a giant kite he built himself, to set a new height record in the daring and dangerous sport.

DOG SOCCER:
In Russia, teams of boxer dogs In a fast and thrilling game of soccer, played strictly according to the rules with a fast and nippy terrier as referee to see that the game is on the canine up and up.

KOREA: RIOTS and REFORM:
Demonstrations in Korea against alleged frauds in the recent election that brought Syngman Rhee a landslide fourth term victory provoke a police crack-down. 125 are killed, over 800 injured in climactic riots that provoke a stern U.S. protest and the resignation of the entire Rhee cabinet.

DeGAULLE IN CANADA:
DeGaulle's Pre-Summit round of talks with world leaders brings him to Canada on a four-day State visit for chats with Prime Minister Diefenbaker and public ceremon-lals, before flying on to Washington, D.C.

CHOU EN-LAI VISITS NEHRU:
Red Chinese Premier Chou En-Lai is received by Nehru in India as popular demonstrations denounce Communist Chinese brutality and Tibet, and aggression in the frontier dispute which Chou has come to attempt to settle.

M-60 MEDIUM TANK SHOWN:
In Delaware, the Army's newest medium tank, the M-60, shows its mettle on the rugged proving .grounds. Heavily armed and high-powered the new land cruiser boasts impressive speed, agility and hitting power.

SKY DIVERS GALORE: At Port Bragg, North Carolina, dare-devil sky-divers vie for places on the United States team that will go to Bulgaria this fall for the world championship contests. One lady medic is among the jumpers in the routine of precision and stunt events.

DE GAULLE HAILED IN WASHINGTON
Highlights of President De Gaulle's crowded schedule on his American visit. Talks with President Eisenhower on Summit strategy and policies} public ceremonial appearances, and climaxing a busy round of triumphal appearances, an ovation following his address to Congress.

COMBAT CAMERA MISSILE:
At White Sands, New Mexico, a combat Redstone missile carries aloft a camera that follows the warhead all the way to the target, broadcasting back scenes of objective to an earthbound field commander.

BRAZIL DEDICATES NEW CAPITAL:
Midnight Mass celebrated by a Papal delegate opens a full day of observances and celebrations as the ultra-modern city of Brasilia, still unfinished, becomes the official capital of Brazil.

KOREAN CRISIS DEEPENS:
Sharp verbal clashes and physical scuffles among legislators in Korea's Parliament attest the gravity of the crisis that splits the nation in the wake of riots protesting alleged election scandals and demanding reforms. As public demonstrations and violence continue, the nation mourns the hundreds who have already died.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO

Twenty-Five Years Age - DUTCH SCHULTZ faces trial for income tax evasion, and escapes when the jury disagrees.

GAMBLING CRACKDOWN by New York police and $100,000 worth of gambling machines are smashed and burned.

The famed BOSTON MARATHON is won by John A. Kelley, who defeats the veteran (even then!) Clarence DeMar.

GLENN CUNNINGHAM is defeated by his old rival Glen Dawson in the Kansas Relays. BABE RUTH poles out hip first homer of the season in a Newark exhibition. In the KENTUCKY DERBY, its Omaha romping home by two lengths after an exciting mile-and-a-quarter battle.

KOREA RIOTERS TRIUMPH:
Scenes of dramatic climax of Korea's rebellion by riot. As President Rhee steps down, student demonstrators surge through the streets and storm the home of Vice-President elect Lee, whose allegedly rigged election sparked by upheaval. Scenes show Lee with his family, in earlier days, before the murder-suicide pact in which they perished after the mob's attack. Acting President Huh Chung, caretaker until new elections are held, is also shown.

IRAN EARTHQUAKE:
The town of Lar in southern Iran is leveled by two terrific earth tremors. Hundreds in the town of 15,000 die, thousands more are homeless, and suffering severe deprivations as aid begins to arrive at the disaster scene.

NEPAL KING VISITS U.S.:
King Mahendra and Queen Ratna of Nepal are greeted by Ike as they arrive for a State visit. They leave behind them negotiations between Nepal and Red Chinese Premier Chou En Lai over Red claims to Mount Everest.

HUNTER-KILLER SUB LAUNCHED:
At Groton, Conn., the nuclear sub Tullibee is launched. The smallest atom sub ever built, she's first in a new class, swift, silent, and loaded with new detection gear and lethal weaponry, to seek out and destroy enemy U-boats.

PHOENIX HAILS ALLENS:
Phoenix, Arizona, turns out en masse to hail Steve Allen and his wife, Jayne Meadows, stars of U-I's forthcoming "COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL . Steve began his career in Phoenix, and a townful of fans roll out the red carpet.

VIVE DE GAULLE!
In New York City and San Francisco, the national tour of President Charles De Gaulle brings him unprecedented civic ovations. Both cities lavish enormous popular turn-outs and vast enthusiasm to acclaim the French statesman.

KOREA CRISIS EBBS:
Calm returns to Korea following the downfall of the Rhee government, and the triumph of student demonstrators. At the funeral of Vice-President-elect Lee Ki Poong, target of the demonstrator's wrath, who saved face in death with his wife and two sons, Syngman Rhee and a large crowd of his followers mourn a long time friend.

MAY DAY IN TWO BERLINS:
In their separate fashions, East and West Berlin celebrate May Day. In the Communist Zone, the traditional parade is a five hour martial pageant, with goose-stepping troops and rumbling heavy armor. In West Berlin, nearly a million gather to hear Mayor Willy Brandt assert the determination of their free city.

LONDON PREPARES FOR NUPTIALS:
Preparations for the wedding of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones engross London. Lamp-posts along the Mall are adorned with triple crowns, and a practice run of the wedding procession in the early morn draws untimely crowds.

FEEDING TIME IN THE ZOO:
Feeding time in the Stuttgart Zoo, with Sonny the Chimp on the other-side of the line. In a small zoo-keeper's uniform, she's handing it out for a change, flinging fish to a happy school of barking sea-lions. Who needs humans?

SPORTS

PENN RELAYS: At the 66th Annual Penn Relays, keen competition and some brilliant performances, topped by the 7 ft. 1-1/2 inch leap of John Thomas, to recapture the world's outdoor high jump record for America.

SWORD DANCER IN GREY LAG: At Aqueduct, 1959's horse of the year, SWORD DANCER, returns to top form to win the Grey Lag handicap after a fiercely contested final furlong that ends in a three horse photofinish.

IKE REVIEWS NEW WEAPONS:
At Ft. Benning, Georgia, Ike is in his element as an old soldier, witnessing a review and demonstration of nearly two hundred pieces of weaponry developed for the ground forces in recent years, ranging from one of the most powerful tanks in service to heavy combat rockets and one-man missile launchers.

SHIP PICKETING STIRS STORM:
In New York, seamen continue to picket the Egyptian ship "Cleopatra" in protest against Arab black-listing of U.S. flag ships that touch Israeli ports. Arab reaction is a storm of angry protest and a costly counter-boycott.

MAY DAY IN MOSCOW:
Russia's May Day parade in Moscow emphasizes the theme of peaceful co-existence, with athletes, doves and happy children to the fore. But- only a few days later, Khrushchev announces the shooting down of an American plane.

ZOO NEWS PROM CONTINENT:
From the Ruhr Zoo and from Basel, news of a bouncing crop of zoo youngsters - wrestling Kodiak bear cubs, a playful tortoise, Goma the baby gorilla, and a frisky okapi colt.

WEST POINT GYMNASTICS:
At West Point, a dazzling show by top American gymnasts, in competition that combines the A.A.U. championships and Olympic trials. Some of the most superb examples of strength, timing and agility ever displayed.

THE ROYAL WEDDING:
Full highlights of the dazzling, jubilant day in which Britain's beloved Princess Margaret marries a commoner to become Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret, Mrs. Antony Armstrong-Jones. From the procession through cheering throngs, the splendid and solemn rites in Westminster Abbey, the uproarious ovation of enormous throngs outside Buckingham Palace, to the departure of the newlyweds for their honeymoon on the Royal yacht, pelted with confetti and rose-petals as they go by the Queen and Queen Mother themselves, the thrilling story of Britain's most joyous day.

"TRITON" CIRCLES WORLD SUBMERGED
U.S.S. "TRITON", the world's largest nuclear sub, completes the first undersea 'round the world cruise, paralleling the 41,000 mile route of Magellan's voyage of 1519. Captain Edward L. Beach is flown to the White House to receive the Legion of Merit, then back to the ship for the triumphal re-entry into a cheering home port of New London, Conn., after an historic 84-day voyage.

IKE STATES POLICY ON POWERS CASE:
In his White House Press Conference, the President comments on the Powers Spy case, and states United States policy regarding international intelligence gathering and his "open skies" proposal.

MEXICO DRAFTS 200,000:
Mass induction of 40,000 youths in stirring ceremonies before Mexico City's historic National Cathedral. Across the nation, 200,000 in all are called to a year of service.

PRESIDENT'S COMMITTEE HONORS HANDICAPPED:
In Washington, Vice-President Nixon presents the annual awards of the President's Committee on employment of the physically handicapped, to schoolgirl Gail Chadwell of Reno, Nevada and businessman Dwight Guilfoil, himself paralyzed by polio and spinal meningitis.

TOURNAMENT OP CHAMPIONS:
At Las Vegas, the final round of the rich Tournament of Champions, with Jay Hebert and Julius Boros battling for second slot behind the blazing, brilliant performance of front runner Jerry Barber.

SUMMIT CRISIS
The Big Four arrive in Paris to commence the Summit talks amid a pessimistic mood. Khrushchev continues the angry, tough talk he began at the Moscow exhibit of the wrecked U-2 spy plane, and gloomy predictions seem justified when he clashes with Ike verbally and withdraws his invitation to President Eisenhower to visit Russia. On its first day, the Summit meeting is apparently torpedoed by Khrushchev.

FRANCE LAUNCHES NEW LINER:
France launches the newest super-liner, the world's longest, proudly bearing the name "S S FRANCE". Christened by Mme De Gaulle, the 1,035 foot craft will carry 2,000 passengers, France's bid for eminence on the North Atlantic blue ribbon run.

"OTHELLO" OPENS IN NEW YORK:
The Soviet film version of "OTHELLO" opens in New York, one of the highlights of the Soviet-American cultural exchange program. Top stars of stage and screen attend the Gotham premiere which drew critical applause.

CONTINENTAL FASHION PARADE:
Thirty leading designers from eleven nations stage a combined show on the Continent, and camera magic takes the troupe of models and the dazzling collection on a whirlwind tour of Europe's most scenic and most famous settings to showcase the fabulous fashions.

COUNTESS ADIOS WINS MESSENGER STAKE:
At Roosevelt Raceway, Countess Adios, driven by Del Miller, gives one of the most thrilling performances in harness racing annals to take the rich first prize money of over $71,000 coming up on the outside to win going away.

BIG 4 COME DOWN FROM SUMMIT:
Nikita Khrushchev shatters hopes for a Big 4 Summit meeting, and stamps on the ruins at a farewell press conference in which he puts on one of his most emotional displays to date with an insulting tirade repeating his earlier tirade against the U.S. and President Eisenhower personally. The Western leaders depart Paris after intensive efforts to salvage the long-planned conference prove fruitless.

UNION-MANAGEMENT SHOW:
In Washington, D.C., the 1960 edition of the Union-Management show cooperatively put on by labor and employers. Hundreds of exhibits show the tremendous range of labor's crafts and skills.

ZOO CUBS CUT UP:
From Germany, scenes of this spring's crop of Zoo youngsters going through the growing up phase that baffles and sometimes tries the patience of all parents, but delights visitors. Papa Lion has a rough time with a frisky troop of cubs.

PATTERSON, JOHANSSON TRAIN:
Heavyweight champion Ingemar Johansson and ex-champ Floyd Patterson train for their June rematch. At Grossingers, New York, Ingo is on an intensive schedule of workouts. In Connecticut, Floyd develops a new style in footwork under the tutelage of Joe Louis.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO

BENITO MUSSOLINI reviews Fascist armored forces in chemical warfare maneuvers, using poison gas.

Farmers mass outside the White House to cheer F.D.R. and support the Agricultural Adjustment Administration.

F.D.R.'s veto of the PATMAN BONUS BILL is overridden by Congress, and blasted by HUEY LONG.

In New York, FATHER COUGHLIN is hailed by a mass rally.

On Decoration Day, MAYOR LaGUARDIA and Civil War vets review New York's parade.

In the INDIANAPOLIS 500 mile classic, KELLY PATILLO wins with an average 106 m.p.h. '
