RHINO ROUND-UP:
In Rhodesia, game wardens carry on a remarkable game round-up to rescue animals trapped on soon-to-be-submerged islands behind the Kariba Dam. One party goes after a massive rhino, with a monumentally bad temper and it's a riotous rampage as they snare him, truss him, and ferry him to shore. Then the beast turns on his rescuers, goring the boat, and tearing up the landscape before departing.

UPSIDE DOWN HOUSE:
In Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, builders finish off a development with a completely upside down house, inside and out. Crazy like a fox. The weird sight draws throngs of prospects to enjoy the topsy-turvy sensation of a fully-furnished house that defies the law of gravity.

LEATHER FASHIONS:
In Forest Hills, New York, high style leather fashions, with a new range of colors and new tannages that drape like cloth. Styles range from luxurious evening wear to sturdy styles for the outdoor girl.

IKE WARNS REDS ON CONGO MEDDLING
At his White House press conference, President Eisenhower warns that Soviet supplies of aircraft and military equipment to the Lumumba government increase tensions in the Congo and endanger hopes of a peaceful solution through United Nations efforts to ease the explosive crisis.

HURRICANE DONNA:
After battering Puerto Rico with savage flash floods that cause wide damage and take some 116 lives, Hurricane Donna moves North towards the Keys and Cuba, watched with fearful apprehension by warning stations and householders along the entire Eastern seaboard.

LONDON IN D0NNYBROOK:
Heavyweight Brian London's challenge match with European champ Rick Richardson, in Wales, erupts in a Donnybrook after the ref declares Richardson the winner. London keeps on fighting, with his father and brother joining him in the ring, for one of the wildest melees since the Marquis of Queensberry brought order to the squared circle.

OLYMPIC HIGHLIGHTS

In men's platform diving from the 35-foot tower, Bob Webster of Santa Ana, California upsets favored teammate Gary Tobian, to win the gold medal. Tobian, of Glendale, Calif., takes second, with third honors going to Brian Phelps of Britain. In the women's 200 meter, Tennessee State's sensational Tigerbelle Wilma Rudolph wins her second of three gold medals. A spectacular finish in the 110 meter high hurdles as Lee Calhoun of Gary, Indiana and Willie May of Chicago go down to the wire in a near dead heat. Calhoun repeats his 1956 victory by using his head- to butt the tape!

DONNA SCOURGES SEABOARD:
Hurricane Donna, after its deadly course through the Caribbean and the heart of Florida, slashes up the Atlantic Coast. The killer storm brushes New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area with gale force winds and torrential rains, then hits eastern Long Island with full force, and batters on into New England following closely the track of the disastrous 1938 hurricane. One of the most destructive tropical storms in history, Donna takes a heavy toll.

IKE AT COUNTRY FAIR:
Week-ending at his Gettysburg farm, Ike visits the Arendtsville, Pa., county fair - viewing the arts and crafts exhibits, trying his throwing arm at a midway booth, and laughingly passing up a palmistry booth.

MISS AMERICA - 1961:
Miss America 1961 is chosen in the latest edition of the glittering Atlantic City, N.J., beauty pageant. She's lovely Nancy Anne Fleming of Montague, Michigan, not only a beauty but a straight A student with career plans in food and fashion....

OLYMPIC HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of the closing days of the Rome Olympics. In the 1500 meter metric mile, Australia's HERB ELLIOTT proves unbeatable, winning easily in record time. RAFER JOHNSON wins the gruelling decathlon, edging out fellow Uclan C.K. YANG of Taiwan. In the 400 meter race, OTIS DAVIS, who barely made the team, sets a blazing pace for a spectacular victory. Pole vaulter DON BRAGG performs as expected for another U.S. gold medal. In the women's 400 meter relay, a group of Tigerbelles from Tennessee State U., are anchored by the heroine of the U.S. team, WILMA RUDOLPH, who wins her third gold medal of the Games, only track and field athlete to turn the trick!

76 ESCAPE DEATH IN PLANE CRASH:
A hairs-breadth escape from fiery tragedy for 70 passengers and 6 crew members when their plane crashes and flips over while landing at New York's LaGuardia Airport, with the plane already burning, stewardesses help free the passengers, hanging upside down by their safety belts, and lead them to safety.

HURRICANE AFTERMATH:
All along the Atlantic seaboard, a mammoth job of cleaning up in the wake of Hurricane Donna, one of the most destructive storms on record. At least 138 lives are lost, and property damages are approximately one billion dollars.

CANARY ACROBAT:
From Argentina, a canary acrobat who goes through a dazzling repertory of stunts that culminates with exhaustion and a hilarious "playing dead" trick.

OLYMPICS END:
In Rome's Olympic Stadium, solemn torchlight ceremonies bring to an end the 17th modern Olympiad, one of the most thrilling and achievement-filled international sports competitions of modern time.

GRID TITANS TROUNCE BILLS:
In New York, the American Football League opens its season with a match between the Titans and the Buffalo Bills. A fast moving, action-packed contest in which the Titans run up an overwhelming 27-3 final score.

MR. K AND CASTRO ARRIVE IN NEW YORK:
An Impressive parade of world leaders arrives in New York for the opening of the 15th General Assembly of the U N. First is Cuba's Fidel Castro, who is received with mixed cheers and jeers. Russia's Nikita Khrushchev arrives accompanied by the leaders of nearly every Soviet ally and satellite - to be greeted by furious protests of demonstrators, many of whom are East European refugees. In all, 20 heads of state will be represented in one of the most dramatic and potentially most momentous sessions of the UN to date.

MEXICO HAILS INDEPENDENCE DAY:
Mexico hails the 150th anniversary of national independence with a sensational countrywide observance that has 35 million Mexicans joining in spectacular celebrations and historic observances.

T.O.A. NAMES STAR OF YEAR:
As the Los Angeles convention of the Theatre Owners of America draws to a close with the traditional President's Banquet, attended by over 1,000 exhibitors and their wives, T.O.A. President Albert M. Pickus presents the organization's Star of the Year Award to Doris Day, featured in Universal-International's forthcoming "MIDNIGHT LACE".

NAVY DOWNS BOSTON COLLEGE - 22-7:
Playing at Boston College's Alumni Stadium before 25,000, Navy's high rated team opens the season with a 22-7 victory over a hard-fighting B.C. eleven. The Middie's Joe Bellino figures in all 3 Navy talllies, throwing one scoring pass, receiving another, and carrying the ball across for a third.

HISTORIC UN SESSION
In New York City, the 15th Session of the United Nations General Assembly becomes a fateful and historic meeting, with more world leaders than ever before in history assembled in one locale. After President Eisenhower's hopeful address is answered by Khrushchev in one of his bluntest and most shocking denunciations of the West, the key figures of our times engage in a busy round of informal courtesy calls and conversations. At stake between East and West are the neutralist nations of the world. The diplomatic whirl of activity; with such names involved as Nehru, Nasser, Tito, Castro and many others; noticeably ruffles New York's famous casualness towards the high and the mighty.

The dramatic march of events continues at the historic session of the General Assembly. Cuba's Fidel Castro leaves for home, but on the same day, President Sukarno of Indonesia and King Hussein of Jordan arrive to keep up the amazing roster of major world figures assembled in New York. At U N headquarters, the speech of Prime Minister MacMillan is interrupted by unprecedented outbursts of bad temper by Khrushchev that shocks nearly every delegate present.

In Hollywood, all aspects of the Motion Picture Industry are represented at a luncheon that kicks off the 19th Motion Picture Permanent Charities, a cooperative fund raising effort that has supported scores of non-sectarian charities with a million dollars a year in each year of its existence.

WORLD SERIES OPENS
The World Series opens in an exultant Pittsburgh, with Forbes Field jammed to the rafters by Pirate fans in high glee after a 33-year pennant drought. The Yankees, riding high on a fifteen game winning streak, are brought to earth with a jolt as their defense crumbles before a smashing Pittsburgh attack. Final score, 6-4. Next game: the Yanks roar back to a shattering 16-3 revenge!
