CUBAN ARMS: KENNEDY DENIES RUSSIAN BUILD-UP:
At his News Conference, President Kennedy backs U.S. Intelligence and statements by Defense Secretary RobertMcNamara that there has been no offensive build-up by the Russians in Cuba. He says the Administration’s estimates of arms in Cuba is based on comprehensive reports and emphasizes that certain Congressmen and Senators do not have these sources.

ROYAL TOUR: QUEEN TAKES PART IN FIJI CEREMONY:
On her tour of the South Pacific, Queen Elizabeth, accompanied by Prince Phillip, receives an uproarious welcome from the natives in this British possession. She takes part in traditional ceremonies that include drinking the native “Kava” from a polished coconut shell. It’s a potent drink that appears to be not to the Queen’s taste.

INSIDE RED CHINA: REDS BRAG ABOUT PRISONER TREATMENT:
Red China continues to use their invasion of India as a propaganda springboard. The Communists would have the world believe they treat captured Indians with rare courtesy. These are pictures to be labeled plainly: propaganda.

CROPS GROWN UNDER GLASS:
Vegetable growers in the Netherlands utilize huge greenhouses overcome acreage shortages. The bitter winter has called for around the-clock attendance to keep their crops flourishing.

THE BIG and LITTLE ON WHEELS:
The British unveil a huge six-wheel drive military transport that can navigate the toughest terrain as well as go to sea. At the other extreme, is a tiny car which, nevertheless has a motor both front and rear. It’s a mighty mite as a farm vehicle.

A smiling Irishman showed up in Dublin one summer's day in I938 while on his way to Los Angeles! IRAQI REVOLT: PRO-REDS OUSTED IN MILITARY COUP:
General Abdel Kassem goes down before a firing squad as the Army revolts against his pro-Red rule. The dictator for 5 years, he made a fatal mistake of firing 58 top Generals and replacing them with Communists.

HIKE TO HEALTH???? 50 MILE JAUNTS not FOR EVERYONE:
Twelve Boy Scouts visit the White House to report to the President on Scout activities with the theme of "Strengthen America… Be Prepared... Be Fit." They reward Robert Kennedy for making a 50-mile hike... and the U.S. Marines and everybody else seem to be out walking all over the place.

ROYAL WELCOME: NEW ZEALAND GREETS QUEEN:
The Maoris who came from Polynesia 600 years ago welcome Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to New Zealand. Now loyal subjects, they perform their traditional war dances for the ruler before she goes to Aukland for the Royal Regatta.

CANINE CLASSIC: 2,500 COMPETE FOR TOP DOG HONORS:
For the first time a Springer Spaniel is Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club event at Madison Square Garden in New York. Wakefield's Black Knight, the new top dog is a Black Knight to remember.

BERLIN ELECTION: REDS SWAMPED AS BRANDT WINS:
Mayor Willy Brandt scores an unexpected landslide as West Berliners go to the polls to elect a new City Parliament. His party was favored to win, but his victory was overwhelming as he captured nearly 62% of the vote. The Communists polled only 1.3% and failed to win even one seat.

DRAMA AT SEA: HIJACKED SHIP SAILS TO BRAZIL:
The Venezuelan freighter "Ansoategui" steams into Brazilian waters after being seized at gun-point by pro-Castro Communists in an attempt to embarrass President Romulo Betancourt on the eve of his visit to the United States.

U.S. and BRITAIN TEST NUCLEAR WEAPONS:
The Titan II undergoes its first test at Vandenberg Air Force Base in a shoot from an underground pad. Air Force officials call the launching a partial success despite the missile’s destruction after launch. The British unveil their Blue Steel, a nuclear air-to-ground bomb designed to fill the gap left by the scrapped Skybolt.

RECORDS FALL AT TRACK MEET:
Records fall at the New York Athletic Club games in New York as Jim Beatty sets a new Indoor record for the mile in 3:58:6. He has a battle with Tom O'Hara who also finished under four minutes. In the High Jump, Valeri Brumel of
Russia sets a new Indoor mark at 7 feet, 2 inches…

PRESIDENT GREETS A "GOOD NEIGHBOR":
The Red Carpet is rolled out for President Romulo Betancourt of Venezuela, called one of the nations best friends by President Kennedy. The President greets him on the White House steps as Mr. Betancourt begins a five-day visit in the United States.

AH! --- WINTER can BE BEAUTIFUL:
The severe winter that has gripped most of the nation goes artistic at Niagara Falls where the river and the falls are jammed with ice for 13 miles. It’s a spectacular display of Jack Frost at his best (instead of worst).

HATS ARE COMING UP ROSES:
Yes. Spring hats are also coming up every other bloom as London designers unveil Milady’s bonnets for the coming season. There are shoes that are far out too, in a pedestrian way.

CONGRESS IN SESSION (BOWLING CONGRESS - THAT IS):
You'll be able to hear a pin drop in Buffalo for the next two and a half months as the American Bowling Congress holds its 60th tournament. There’s a half a million in prize money for the 25,000 bowlers competing.

YESTERDAY’S BIG STORY

THE YALTA CONFERENCE:
Terms for Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender were set at the historic Yalta Conference in February of
1945. This was to be the last page of history written by the wartime President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. He made a report to
Congress on the meeting, obviously a very sick man. Six weeks later he died at Warm Springs, Georgia.

QUEEN BEGINS AUSTRALIAN TOUR:
The Dominiorls Parliament Building is brilliantly illuminated for ceremonies welcoming Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Australia. They are beginning a five-week tour that will take them into the outback for a look at a sheep ranch.

WIDE AREAS SUFFER IN ITALIAN FLOODS:

Europe’s worst winter in a century continues to take its toll. On the island of Sardinia, farmers suffer huge livestock and crop losses as swiftly melting snows turn into raging floods. Mud-slides too, are a menace as they creep down on villages.

SPRING IS IN THE LONDON AIR:
Will somebody nudge the weatherman and tell him spring is here - Spring fashions - that is. These British styles are all
feminine, aimed at adding glamour to that Spring event. Spring - it’s wonderful.

A.A.U. RECORDS SET AT TRACK MEET:
From the broadjump to the mile run, there's a thrill-a-minute at the A.A.U. games in New York. Russian ace Igor Ter-Ovanesyan sets an indoor mark in the broadjump with a leap of 26 feet, 6 1/2 inches. In the mile run it's Jim Beatty all the way as he turns in a neat 3 minutes 59 seconds.

CLEAN UP BEGINS IN LIBERIA
In the aftermath of Libya's most ruinous earthquakes, surviving villagers of the flattened city of El Marj search in the wreckage of their homes for the bodies of the missing and for whatever few possessions may be left. American and British soldiers set up hopitals and shelters for the victims.

MOUNTAINEERS FEED HUNGRY ANIMALS
Rarely see Alpine game - deer and mountain goat - are forced by the heavy snows of the terrible 1963 winter to come down from their peaks and be fed by the mountaineers. Even so, it is feared that only 4,000 of the 20,000 beautiful creatures will survive.

FASHION PARADE
The House Of Dior shows its 19963 spring fashion collection in Paris. Stricter lines and longer skirts are the rule, with the double-breasted suit and flaring collar back. Evening gowns follow classic lines with fancy applications.

MONA LISA DRAWS IMITATORS
Art runs rampant as over 30,000 MONA LISAS, ranging from a Cheesecake Mona Lisa to a Missle one, are submitted in a contest In New York. And in Paris, one Eric Munster creates his abstracts by setting fire to his canvas, then quckly dousing it in the river.

WINTER SPORTS ROUNDUP
Sports fans in Germany and Austria take advantage of the snowy winter to rurn lakes into race tracks. Motorcycles with and without sidecars, sports cars and even farm horses careen over the ice as thought it were a fast track in July.

SUB-ZERO WARFARE: CANADA-U.S. HOLD JOINT MANEUVERS
A giant exercies to train combat troops in arctic warfare gets underway in Alaska. Alaskan Command paratroopers with units from other strategic Army and Air Force units join with Princess Pat Infantry, Canada's crack regiment in successfully battling Old Man Winter - the second enemy.

FROZEN ZUYDER ZEE BECOMES HIGHWAY
Europe's severest winter in generations has made a thruway out of Holland's Zuyder Zee as autos make the sixty mile trio from one side to the other as the ice reaches a thickness of 3 feet.

'MOST PROMISING' WIN GOLD MEDALS
Among the winners of this year's coveted Photoplay Magazine Awards are Gary Clarke, Suzanne Pleshette, Bette Davis and Richard Chamberlain. Clarke is a star of the 'Virginian', while Suzanne has '40 Pounds Of Trouble' and the forthcoming 'The Birds' to her credit. Four aces that make a full house.

'CANDY SPOTS' TAKES SANTA ANITA; NEVER BEND THE FLAMINGO
Two thrill packed horse races are unveiled for racing fans. In the Santa Anita Derby four horses take a bad spill at the first turn as 'Candy Spots' goes on to win handily. In the Famingo at Hialeah, 'Never Bends' hops into an early lead and is never headed. These are two horses to watch in this year's Kentucky Derby.

RECORD FLOODS: THAW AND RAINS HIT 7 STATE AREA
Rampaging waters roar through the Ohio Valley as rain and melting snow trigger the worst flood conditions to hit many areas in 30 years. High drama at the height of the flood as two boys are rescued by helicopter after climbing to trees above a raging river for nine hours.

FRENCH MINERS CONTINUE STRIKE
The coal mines of France are idle as 200,000 workers defy orders from President Charles De Gaulle to return to their jobs. After a hard winter, coal is in short supply and the strike is aggravating this.

GOLDEN GLOBES: TOP ACTING AWARDS TO UNIVERSAL STARS
The most coveted movie awards next to the Oscars are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck and Doris Day are among the top winners as they are kudoed with 'Golden Globes'.

BABY HIPPO STAGES OWN WATER SHOW
At California's Jungleland they've come up with a way to pool their resources and have fun. Sam, a 9 month old 150 pound Hippo frolics in the old swimming hole with his instructor. When he grows up he'll be an actor; all two tons of him.

SPRING ON WAY - HERE'S PROOF!
It's time to start poking around in the tool shed when the flower show opens in New York. The Coliseum is a bower of beauteous blossoms as the 46th International Exhibit draws record crowds.

THE S.S. HOPE RETURNS IN TRIUMPH
The good ship Hope steams into New York after a 10 month visit to Peru. The fully-equipped hospital ship and school has treated 40,000 patients and benefitted nearly 500,000 since 1960.

TIBETAN KIDS FIND HOME IN ENGLAND
Twenty two Tibetan children who were chosen by the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, are guests in England where they study as they would in their own country if the Chinese Reds hadn't driven them to exile.

THE BIRDS IS COMING
At Universal City, Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren get a trans-continental pigeon race off to a flying start. It's run in connection with his latest picture 'The Birds', which introduces Tippi. Later, in New York, the pair arrive to prepare for the picture's premiere.

VILLANOVA COPS TRACK MEET AGAIN
Villanova scores it fifth victory in the last seven years in the ICAA track meet. Rolando Crrus of Villanova scores in the pole vault as he does 16 feet, one inch to break his old mark. Trailing in the mile relay, Villanova comes from behind to take the meet.
