Queen Juliana takes first ride in Holland’s new vehicular tunnel, under a major shipping canal. A unique traffic problem solved.
APPLE PICKER:
Champion apple picker of ‘em all, Rex Grunewald of Yakima, Washington, zips through the orchards at a 415 box-a-day clip. That adds up to over 6 tons an all-time high.
PICTURE PUZZLE:
In California, police unveil a new “picture-puzzle” rogue’s gallery, in which criminals are identified from hundreds of cut-ups of facial features.
RETURN OF THE RACOON:
Back-to-the-campus fashions this year have a strong air of nostalgia. All the pretty co-eds are bundled up in raccoon coats a la Roaring Twenties!
